“Let There Be Songs To Fill The Air”
JT Wise Band Plays Grateful Dead
"JT Wise Band performs American roots music with an expertise rarely heard". journalist Daniel Curran
The Portland guitarist JT Wise is a formidable force on guitar. He is comfortable in a variety of musical contexts including melodic roots improvisation as well as sophisticated blues rock. Preferring clean tone and conversational jamming. He is influenced by guitarists Jerry Garcia, Dickie Betts and many others.
JT is joined by bassist and soulful singer Maggie Wise, drummer Ken Woodside and newest member in 2026 Keyboard and organ player Byron Ady.
They perform high energy good time music with deep grooves, jam band sensibility and vocal harmonies.
Deadheads Rejoice
Appealing To All Generations
We have found a special calling to perform the music of the Grateful Dead with authentic jams and JT channeling Jerry Garcia! Sets include Scarlett Begonia into Fire on the Mountain, Bertha, Friend of the Devil, Ripple, Sugaree, Me and My Uncle, Mississippi Halfstep, Franklin Tower and many more. As the spirit moves the dance floor community we may include original tunes with improvisation.
Per Paul Lankow from Portland Notes "the JT Wise band captures the Grateful Dead better than anyone else in the area". Notable performance review 1/11/2019.
